Just another day at the office for Hero-Mayor Yıldırım.

The Mayor of Karamürsel in Kocaeli province prevented a tragedy at
the March 1st ceremony commemorating a ferry sinking in Karamürsel
in 1958.  Mayor İsmail Yıldırım noticed that diver Şenay Ertorun, one
of three divers laying a wreath in the water as a rememberance, was
having trouble in the water.

Mayor Yıldırım, himself a seasoned diver, threw off his coat, dove into
the icy water and brought Ertorun to shore safely.  Ertorun explained
that he had panicked and gone into shock.  She said "I'm very grateful
to him. He saved my life."

  Abdullah B. not up there to fix the antennas.

The Governor of Adıyaman province, Abdullah Erin, persuaded
Abdullah B., who had gone to the top of the governor's building
threatening suicide, to relent.  Around noon yesterday, 50 year-old
Abdullah B., recently released from jail and jobless,  was on the
roof ready to jump to his death.  While others failed to deter
Abdullah B., Governor Erin came to the roof, promised Abdullah
B. a job and talked him down.
