Going back to prison was on his 'bucket list' anyway.

In the Yeşilyurt neighborhood of Adana, Murat Yalçın (36)
was captured by a security camera while robbing a home.
Yalçın, who is currently serving a sentence in a open prison,
had come to Adana using his family visitation right. But he
did not return to the prison after the visit.

Police received a report that a bicycle had been stolen from
an apartment building in the 2000 Evler neighborhood so
they reviewed security camera footage.  The police noticed
that a person wearing a bucket on his head was robbing the
building and they determined that it was prison escapee
Yalçın.

Shortly afterwards police captured Yalçın who explained
that he had employed the bucket-on-the-head technique
to foil the security cameras.  Yalçın was sent back to prison.

No one told them to 'stay outta trouble tonight' so...

Three members of a police team in Altınordu district of Ordu
province stopped a suspicious vehicle and one of the policemen
asked the two people in the car for their identity cards.  The
driver, though, all of a sudden hit the gas while the policeman
was searching inside the vehicle.

The remaining policemen used their radio to alert nearby colleagues
that "one of our own has been kidnapped!", bringing a large number of
police to the vicinity.  The driver drove 10 kilometers to Perşembe
district before police shot the car tires out and stopped the vehicle.
The policemen held hostage in the car was wounded in the leg by
the ricochet of one of his colleague's bullets.

The head of the Trabzonspor football club, İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu,
watching his team's match against Gaziantepspor on TV in Istanbul
was so enraged by a supposed missed call that he had the referees
detained at the Trabzon stadium "until I get there."

The referees were locked in the referees room until AK Party
parliamentarian Süleyman Soylu was able to reach Turkish President
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (!), who called Hacıosmanoğlu at 0315 in the
morning and persuaded him to free the hostage referees.

Referee Çağatay Şahan and his 9-person team were able to leave
the stadium at 4 a.m,, 4.5 hours after the match had ended, but only
under police protection, as Trabzonspor supporters harassed them
outside Avni Aker stadium..

In the aftermath of the Gaziantepspor match, Trabzonspor chief
Ibrahim Hacıosmanoğlu had this to say about the Turkish Football
Federation and the referees: "Even if we die we'll die like a man.
We won't live like a woman. Noone has the power to make us live
like women. Rather than live 100 years like a woman I'd rather live
one year like a man."

Later, faced with mounting criticism, Hacıosmanoğlu apologized
for his remarks against women, explaining that "my mother who
bore me is a woman. My children's mother is a woman. I just
said these things figuratively, with no insult intended (!). I ask
forgiveness from all women."

In Karacasu district of Aydın province, the Gendarmerie team
at the Gerye Gendarmerie post got a tip about an illegal excavation
underway at the site of the Aphrodisias ruins, so a joint operation
with the provincial Gendarmerie command was launched.

The Gendarmerie team caught red-handed a back-hoe operating at
a field in the Marulluk region that belongs to an individual named
A.T. and 7 people were taken into custody. Two dust masks, 6
apparatuses made of brass and used for finding gold, shovels and
the back-hoe were seized at the excavation site.

It turned out that one of the suspects, A.N.H., from the Yahşiler
neighborhood of Tavas district in Denizli province, is an imam.
The other suspects are from Sivas, Malatya and Afyon.  In their
statements to the Gendarmerie the suspects claimed not to know
each other and said that they had come to the area as tourists.

In its investigation the Gendarmerie learned that while six of the
suspects worked on the excavation, the imam from Denizli recited
'ayets' (verses) from the Koran to ward off the 'evil spirits and souls'
that the treasure hunters believed were guarding the treasure. All
seven suspects were taken to jail.

Istanbul narcotics police conducted an operation against a
drug gang that was producing drugs in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul,
and which was being led by Iranian Amar R.  As the result
of four months of technical and physical surveillance, 42
drug sellers working for the Iranian gang and a total of 99
kilograms of narcotics were seized.

Police followed the trail of chemistry professor Vafa A., who
was processing the drugs the gang brought in from Iran. After
a long period of surveillance it was determined that the production
was taking place in a luxury villa in Beylikdüzü.

   Cast of characters.

The villa, guarded at the front door by a pitbull, was raided by
police, who had a veterinarian tranquilize the dog. The police
grabbed chemistry professor Vafa A. red-handed, with a gas mask
covering his mouth as he worked to make narcotics pills.

The professor's Russian girlfriend Olivia O., gang leader Amar R.
and gang members İrfan I and Fatma K. were captured, as well.
All together, six suspects were taken into custody and four were
ultimately arrested.  The gang was paying the chemistry professor,
whom they brought to Istanbul from Iran, 25,000 TL (about 8K
USD) per month. As for the drugs, they were being shipped to
countries in the Far East.

"The people are (NOT) in the street. I must follow them,
for I am their leader." (attributed to Robespierre, among
other rascals)

Citizens failed to show any interest in the meeting set up in
Karayolları Park by independent Mardin parliamentry candidate
Mehdi Sarıkaya.  Driving the election vehicle he decorated himself,
Sarıkaya arrived at the park and spoke for about half an hour.

But besides the police assigned to the event, there was noone listening.
Nevertheless, Sarıkaya paused during his speech while the muezzin
from a nearby mosque called the faithful to prayer. Facing journalists
after delivering his speech, Sarıkaya related that he is one of 11
siblings and that he has taught in schools in various provinces for
42 years.

                    "You'll see..."

Sarıkaya explained that he became a candidate because of the blood
flowing in the region, adding that "thousands of people's hearts were
here but they didn't show up themselves. I didn't even invite my
relatives. Lots of people told me 'we'll come' but they didn't. I don't
know why they  didn't come. The community has been disuaded from
meetings. My goal is to get more votes than the two parties' total. I
started my election campaign 10 days ago and everyone thought I
was strange to do so. Now, though, everyone's waving at me. When
I go through the neighborhood they're offering me cakes, coffee and
drinks. There's a secret (!) flood of support for me, a storm in fact.
This will turn into votes, don't worry."

As Sarıkaya left the park in his election vehicle he waved at people
on the street.
